Testimonials

"I’m a former Fleet Street journalist who was also Paul McCartney’s Head of Press for 15 years, so I am somewhat demanding in the media standards of those who work with me. But I was delighted how superbly Ella performed, she played a blinder. Guitars On The Beach is the UK’s biggest guitar festival with many bands performing for 12 hours to a large crowd. Ella’s role was to capture the best of the performances, to spot [as opposed to just watch] and record the best of the very busy backstage and front of stage activity and to record interviews with the artists and crew. At past events [GOTB has been running for six years] I have briefed experienced and professional video crews and photographers thoroughly only to have to later berate them for not doing what I asked them to. This was not the case with Ella, she completely got it. She has a good nose for the news-worthy, a news sense instinct which usually only comes from years of experience. She is enthusiastic, tireless, perceptive, tenacious and she clearly has a talent for documentary reportage. In interviews her questions are cleverly and incisively phrased to get the best from the interviewee and on video she misses nothing. As a photographer she also senses the action before it happens, and therefore she captures the moment. Most others only notice the moment after it has passed. She is not phased by the hectic rate which is demanded by the nature of live rock & roll shows, she does not panic or become flustered; although the pressure is intense at times, she is calm, focused and thoroughly professional. She is also imaginative and creative in her shooting, capturing the colour and atmosphere of the event better than many who have long worked in this game. I would very happily work with Ella at any time and I would recommend her to anyone who needs top talent and a great team-player. She’s very good, and she is going to be great."

"Ella was originally offered one week of work experience but it quickly became apparent that she was a bright, enthusiastic and competent young lady and we asked her to stay another week. Ella has been a joy to have with us and I have no doubt she will succeed whatever she puts her mind to. She has been able to contribute directly to some of our projects with high-profile clients- which is a real rarity for people on work experience. Her writing skills in particular far exceeded our expectations, but she was perfectly able to get involved in filming, photography and design within our office. With such a wide skillset and her personable, approachable and positive attitude, she will go far.

"Ella’s chief responsibility was to research potential bands for our 2018 event. The basic information we required included fan base age demographics, potential associated ticket sales, previous festival experience, current popularity & where possible an idea of probable cost. Not only did we get this information on a very large number of acts but we also received a detailed synopsis on each act including much additional & very useful information. She also called up some very high-profile agents regarding booking certain artists. At all times Ella was very diligent & professional producing high quality work and creating a good image for our new brand."

Co-Director of SQ Festival

"Ella served as Music Editor, and eventually Culture Editor, of my online publication Navy. She was an invaluable asset in terms of the day to day running of the magazine and its development throughout its lifespan. She performed tasks such as writing articles, editing them and ensuring her section ran smoothly during the publication of our monthly segments. She oversaw a small group of writers and kept them to deadlines, always delivering work on time and of a high quality. Her promotion to Culture Editor saw her overseeing a larger pool of content from the worlds of music, film and beyond. She adapted to the new position brilliantly and continued to be a valuable member of our core team."
